At the beginning of February, Year 12 Philosophy and Ethics students attended a Candle Conference at the Methodist Central Hall in Manchester. University style lectures were led by Dr Peter Vardy formerly Vice Principal of Heythrop College and Dr David Webster of the University of Gloucestershire.

Some of the topics covered included Arguing for God, Religious Experience, The Problem of Evil and Natural Law. Debates also took place involving the students one of which was on the topic of euthanasia. The experience will prove to be invaluable for students as they come to sit their AS examinations this summer
