Yesterday marked the return of Mr Gordon holding a sports fixture post-covid. To say he has missed this side of the job is an understatement and the year 7 football team did us all proud! After 3 weeks of hard fought trials, this was the year 7 team’s first opportunity to play competitive football and it was round 1 of the cup! Win, we’re through to the next round, lose and only league title to play for. We entertained Tile Cross in a home fixture which saw Reagan make an early breakthrough following some patient possession and great team fluidity in the build up. 1-0 KESH. Shortly followed an equaliser with the Tile Cross goalkeeper sending a huge kick out of his hands, the huge bounce of the ball beating our defence, their striker through 1 on 1 with Uzair in goal, 1-1. Back three of Nicolae, Luke and captain, Teziah learned from this. Following lots of dominant play in the first half, Zavier scored a screamer from a corner, I doubt Aaron Ramsdale would have kept that out, his celebration was just as good! 2-1 KESH. Second half. Our secret weapon… Skye was getting comfortable and showed great passion and ability throughout. Starting the game in centre midfield, Mr Gordon changed her position to Striker… an unbelievable finish made it 3-1 KESH. With just a few minutes to spare Skye took another shot just outside the box taking a deflection and falling into the bottom left corner, it was arguably off target but the goal was never to be taken away from Skye. 4-1 KESH. Into the next round of the cup… who await? This team have huge potential and Mr Gordon is excited to see what they can achieve. Player of the match: Zavier.
