I had the pleasure of joining some of our Sixth Form students on a trip to Berlin, Germany, just before half term. Even though it was really cold there, -5 degrees most days, I really enjoyed myself. The students we excellent and a credit to our Academy.
We visited many historic places such as The Berlin wall, Check Point Charlie, Reichstag building, Brandenburg Gate, East Side Gallery, Memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe and we even spent a few hours at the BMW assembly plant for motorcycles. We walked for miles visiting sites and enjoying the culture around Berlin. Can I thank Mrs Kitson and Ms Baker for organising the trip.
The student elections took place last term for the House Council. The quality of the students wishing to be elected never ceases to amaze me. Congratulations to the students below who have been elected onto the House Council. Our new Pastoral Manager will be working with them this half term on various issues.
On Thursday 20th December, four members of Lloyd House all felt a lot colder than everyone else! Yes, the Water Aid donations culminated in the Lloyd House end of term assembly and hair cutting extravaganza!
Mr Malik, Mr Khan, Mr Thickett and Mr Leachman all had their heads shaved in aid of the Water Aid charity. The aim of the charity is to provide the means for clean drinking water to people all around the world.
Thank you to everyone who donated and made the assembly a success including hairdresser Imran Hussain. We raised in excess of £500. The event was also covered by the Birmingham Mail - http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/local-news/teachers-at-king-edward-vi-sheldon-380262.
