Here at KESH we are proud to provide a personalised approach for our students. Every student matters, we care for the individual and work hard to ensure high quality support for them. We offer a wide range of courses from A levels to vocational BTEC courses alongside a vast array of extra-curricular activities.

Students at KESH Sixth Form achieve excellent outcomes and perform in line with national averages. At the end of year 13 many students choose to continue their education at university, some students move on to apprenticeships, all secure appropriate training, further education or employment. Choosing the level 3 courses you would like to study and where you would like to study them is one of the most important decisions you will have to make. We hope that the information you will find on our website will provide you with the understanding you need to make an informed choice. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Mr Sehejpal - Assistant Vice Principal, Head of Sixth Form.

How do we meet the requirements of the 16–19 study programme? Academic Year 2022-2023 (updated 15 July 2022)

The KESH Sixth Form 16-19 study offer is designed to provide students with a structured learning programme that supports their individual development and personal progression in line with their future career plans. Our study programmes are individually tailored but combine both qualification and non-qualification activities and are based on a students prior attainment, interests and career goals. Essentially our study programmes will combine the key elements below:

  • Substantial Level 3 qualifications (both Academic and Vocational) that aim to stretch students while preparing them for Higher Education, University, Apprenticeships or Employment. These could either be Academic (A levels) or Vocational (BTEC's) or a mixture of academic and vocational.
  • GCSE Maths or English where students have not yet achieved a grade 4 or above.
  • Relevant and meaningful work experience to provide our students with the opportunity to develop their career choices while allowing them to apply their skills and knowledge in real life work environments. Students are supported in actively seeking work experience placements relating to their interest and potential career path. Time is set aside for these work experience placements in the summer term. Some vocational courses, such as BTEC Health and Social Care, have work placements running throughout the year as a key part of the course.
  • Other Non-Qualification activities, such as our LIVE award to develop Leadership and Innovation through Volunteering and Enrichment. These activities and opportunities are designed to develop our students’ character, broader interpersonal and communication skills and positive attitudes. All non-qualification activities complement other elements of the programme and are designed to develop our students, alongside their self-esteem and confidence in order to support their future career and educational progression. This includes tutorials, study skills and support for students to progress to employment or Higher Education. For example, KESH runs an annual Learning for Employment University fair as well as a Learning for Employment Careers Fair, while we also take all of our students out to a UCAS convention. In addition to this, individually students visit university open days or apprenticeship providers relating to their future aspirations.
  • A comprehensive enrichment/PSRE programme is delivered through daily form time, weekly assemblies and a weekly Personal Development session. A weekly Sixth Form careers element is embedded into the programme.
