Dear Parents/Carers

At the start of a crucial year, we would like to provide you with some information regarding upcoming events, and some of the ways in which we are supporting your child to achieve their best.

Last week we began our after-school intervention or "Period 6" lessons.

Students have been selected for after school intervention by their class teachers, primarily if they are not meeting their target grade in that subject. The smaller groups in after school intervention allow the teacher to provide more personalised learning which helps to secure rapid progress.

Intervention begins straight after school and will finish by 4pm each afternoon. If a pupil has been selected for a Period 6 lesson the expectation is that they must attend. Good attendance to all required intervention sessions will be recognised in our rewards at the end of each term, as this indicates students' commitment to their studies and achieving their best.

We review intervention groups throughout the year and they may change depending on the progress of pupils. These are always timetabled and appear on classcharts so that you will know which after school sessions your child should be attending. We would like to thank you for your support in encouraging your child to attend these sessions.

In addition, we would like to invite all Year 11 Parents to our Year 11 Mock Preparation and our Sixth Form Open Evening, which will be held on Thursday 12th November at 4pm. The presentation will include useful information for you and your child, as well as tips on how to revise for the upcoming mock exams. Sixth Form Open Evening will allow you and your child to find out what it is like to study at KESH Post 16.

This is a really important evening where your child can get more information about the different courses that we offer at KESH at KS5. There are significant changes in Post 16 courses over the coming years which

will begin in September 2027, so attending that evening will allow you and your child to make an informed decision on their next steps.

Year 11 mock exams begin on Monday 30th November. The final written paper is on Friday 11th December, with practical exams taking place the following week. A full timetable will be distributed to students in advance of the mocks and revision resources will be made available on the school website, giving all students the best chance to achieve well in these assessments.

If you have any questions regarding the information shared above, please do not hesitate to contact our Head of Year 11, Mr Harper.

Yours sincerely

Mr Hussey

Vice Principal.
